About David Taylor

David Taylor is an experienced professional tutor, who has been teaching the guitar since 1988. He has worked with students of all ages and abilities, and believes in a flexible and relaxed learning environment. This is helped by his location in the countryside of Northamptonshire.

He aims to help students reach their full musical potential in whatever way they feel is most suited to them. They can expect to be tutored in a vast range of different musical styles, including, but not limited to, classical compositions, rock and pop. Depending on their own personal preferences they can either focus on the acoustic, electric or bass guitar or become versatile with all of them.

Rather than just an exam-focused course, students will be encouraged to take part in concerts and competitions. This helps inspire and motivate them into developing strong performance skills and artistry. Performances will range from solos, duets, and ensembles through to large bands. Along with core training in the guitar, students will also have the opportunity to extend into other musical areas, such as singing.

As well as private lessons, there will be a chance to join Towcester Rock School. This will involve becoming part of an enthusiastic and talented community of musicians. These musicians have performed in musical festivals for many years with great success, and in 2000 they recieved an award at the National Festival of Music for Youth, at the South Bank Centre in London.

In addition, students have performed every year at the National Rock and Pop Festival at the NEC in Birmingham since its inception in 2000.

It is important to have a goal to aim at when learning, and David Taylor uses the Exam Board of Trinity College for the classical guitar, and Rockschool for Electric Guitar and Electric Bass Guitar.

David Taylor recieved the Teacher Prize for Rockschool at the Excellence in Performance Awards 2004.
